- Great investment – We had planned to buy 6 custom-made Adirondacks for our new backyard patio/firepit area but when that fell through we needed to find chairs in a hurry. With only a week and a half before we hosted a major social event in our backyard we found the Kilmer Creek folding Adirondack online. I emailed to see if the chairs would arrive in time for the party and when I heard from the owner that he would ship them out the following day and we’d have them by the weekend, I went ahead and ordered six of them. The owner was quick to answer emails and he was true to his word, the chairs shipped the next day and we actually received them before the weekend! My husband put them all together so I don’t know much about that process though he did say that the first one took a bit of time and after that the assembly went very quickly. We love these chairs! The contoured backs are comfortable, they look great and because they fold up we can store them out of the elements without taking up a ton of space. So far, we’ve left them outside all the time and they are holding up beautifully. My husband put a water sealant on them to help keep their color versus weathering. The chairs are perfect for us. If I had to nitpick, I would say that the chair would be even more comfy for me if the back was a bit more upright, but even as it is, it’s quite comfortable. Would order these again without worry!

But out of the box, expect to be disappointed. The seat and back are fully assembled, but nothing has been sanded. So expect to spend a bunch of time sanding everything. Also, the wood is not the highest grade, so expect the grain to split while you’re doing that. I must have done 5 or 6 rounds of gluing and clamping to fix the splits and splintering. And since the seat and back are assembled, you can’t really sand between the slats unless you take everything apart – which I don’t recommend because they were glued as well as screwed together.
In addition, the slats aren’t cut flush with the sides of the seat and back. If you’re not super careful when assembling the chair, it won’t fold without gouging itself.
A few coats of marine spar varnish after sanding made them look really good. But man, this was a lot of work for an inexpensive chair. A little more fit and finish before shipping would have made it a lot easier. And maybe a higher grade of lumber. - High price does not mean high quality – We have had these for three years and are totally disappointed. Backs recline back to far and wood is splitting. Last nigh one of the arm rest collapsed as the bolt holding it to the chair split out of the wood.
- great purchase – a little pricy, but a solid buy. surprisingly light-weight. relatively easy assembly. Instructions weren’t super clear, but as long as you don’t tighten everything down, it’s not terrible to disassemble. love the unfinished aspect of it. Will give the wife something fun to paint.
- Not bad, but craftmanship is lacking – I bought 4 of these as a Mother’s Day present so I have some exposure to the product (beyond a single order). Overall they aren’t bad. I’m a little disappointed in the craftsmanship & attention to detail. If this was a high school shop project, I would give them a B. For example, none of the cut ends were sanded (all were left rough), the hole alignment for many of the customer assembled pieces vary but as much as 1/4″ which causes alignment problems. Of the 4, only 1 actually fit correctly (no apparent racking of the seat back). The carriage bolts, no matter how careful you are, will slip and turn in the assembly. I ended up using 2 quick-clamps and a piece of scrap to hold the carriage bolt head from turning while tightening the nut. I didn’t really need for the chairs to fold and I ended up inserting 2 screws in the bottom rail to attach it to the seat bottom. There were several places where the router slipped or was not aligned properly and gouged the wood. Several of the slats had knots (piece of wood should not have been used in that position) – but at least it was on the underside (not easily visible). I lightly sanded the chairs (other than the cut ends which required a little heavier sanding), and then painted them. The look pretty good. They do look better than the really cheap ones we previously had. I will have to see how they hold up after a season or two in the Texas sun!

- Great Chair – I performed a bit of research on all the types of chairs available and traveled to many outdoor stores. I was hesitant at first to spend the money on this chair because I am a bit of a traditionalist and like a natural wood chair. These chairs took literately 25 min to assemble – very easy and proved to be very comfortable for all – including my father who is over 200lbs/6′. The material doesn’t get hot, is very sturdy, cleans and looks great. Well worth the expense if you plan on keeping these for a long time.

Recently I purchased POLYWOOD SBA15GY South Beach Outdoor Adirondack Chair. This chair is very comfortable. Note that this particular Adirondack chair has a slightly concave backrest, as opposed to some of the other Adirondacks chairs that have flat backs. I find that the concave backrest is more comfortable, because it doesn’t put all the pressure on the spine. This is the best Adirondack chairs.
I bought 2 of Lifetime 60064 Adirondack Chair. These chairs seem to be a pretty good value. I love the look and substantial weight. Much of the assembly was easy until the legs and arms, which are little difficult to line up. It’s a good idea to not tighten all the screws until you have it all put together.
